WOW! Bold Exciting Changes In Store For 2013 Business Excellence Awards

MARK THE DATE – Thursday, September 26th!
Over the past eighteen years, the Greater Oshawa Chamber has taken the opportunity to recognize business achievements in our community with over 85 businesses and organizations being honoured at the Annual Business Excellence Awards event. Since 1989 twenty four individual business leaders have been recognized as Business Persons of the Year.

Keeping the high quality and caliber of the event in mind, and to celebrate the Chamber’s 85th Anniversary, the Board has changed the venue and revamped the program. The “party of the year to Celebrate Business” kicks-off with a Pre-Award VIP Cocktail Reception at Fazio’s Restaurant beginning at 5:00 p.m., followed by a Red Carpet greeting and Awards Presentation at the Regent Theatre beginning at 6:15 p.m. Paparazzi supplied! There are exciting prizes to be won with all attendees eligible to win. Post-Award Parties, beginning at 8:00 p.m., are being planned by participating downtown restaurants.

The event, to be held on Thursday, September 26th, will be one of the premier events upon the reopening of the Regent Theatre, currently under interior renovations to restore its ceiling to its original 1950s grandeur.  Chamber President Dan Carter is encouraging everyone attending to participate in the Post Award Celebrations.

The 2013 recipients of the prestigious Business Excellence Awards are “Business Excellence” — Dr. Angela Fountain and Associates and Rhythm Dynamix Dance & Performing Arts; “Civic Pride” — McCAM Insurance Brokers Ltd.; “Innovation” — GeoSight Inc.; “New Enterprise” — Working It!  Making Your Clothes Work For You Inc.; and “Business Person of the Year” — Norm Mackie of Mackie Moving Systems, Oshawa. To add to the celebration Chamber President Dan Carter is pleased to announce the President’s Award will be presented to the Boys & Girls Club of Durham–Eastview Unit, celebrating its 50th Anniversary, to recognize the outstanding dedication and commitment of its staff and volunteers past and present to Oshawa and Durham Region. Past recipients of this award have included Simcoe Hall Settlement House, the Ontario Regiment (RCAC) and the Hero’s of Hope Campaign.

The Greater Oshawa Chamber of Commerce is proud of its business community and reminds you that this isn’t your average, run-of-the-mill awards show – it’s the party of the year! This remains a Black Tie event – Business Suit optional. Please join the Chamber along with a major cross-section of the Durham Region business community to “Celebrate Business” and to recognize the extraordinary success of the recipients that excel in all areas of business and display leadership within the community.

Book your ticket today and be part of the celebration! Contact the Chamber at 905-728-1683 for more details or visit web.oshawachamber.com/events.
