Tax will create jobs, save business money: Revenue Minister Wilkinson.
The province’s proposed harmonized sales tax (HST) will help Ontario businesses become more competitive in a global economy. But it’s just one part of a comprehensive tax reform that will also reduce the small business corporate income tax rate and eliminate the small business deduction surtax. That’s the message Ontario Minister of Revenue John Wilkinson brought to a packed breakfast meeting hosted by the Greater Oshawa Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Durham Region Home Builders Association and Durham Region Association of Realtors.

Canada on Track to Deliver Safe and Effective H1N1 Influenza Vaccine to Canadians

The Honorable Leona Aglukkaq, Minister of Health, confirmed that the government remains on track to make an authorized H1N1 vaccine available for Canadians in early November.

“Let me be perfectly clear, in early November we will have a safe and effective vaccine that will begin rolling out to all Canadians who want and need it,” said Minister Aglukkaq.  “It is a vaccine that can be administered to both healthy Canadians and those with underlying medical conditions.”

GOCC Wins Support For National Nuclear Energy Strategy

The Greater Oshawa Chamber of Commerce (GOCC) achieved a significant win towards a nuclear energy strategy. Over 250 delegates from chambers of commerce and boards of trade, from coast to coast to coast representing 175,000 businesses of all sizes, in all sectors of the economy and in all regions, debated and referred the GOCC resolution to the Canadian Chamber Board of Directors to ensure that Canada has a Nuclear Energy Strategy included as part of the “Canadian Sustainable Energy Strategy” announced at the Victoria Canadian Chamber of Commerce Annual General Meeting on October 5, 2009.

MIKEY defibrillators are now on board event cruisers at Durham Radio’s KX96 New Country FM, CKDO 107.7FM/1580AM and 94.9 The ROCK. A MIKEY is a public-access defibrillator. The shock from a Mikey can save a life within minutes, even before emergency services personnel arrive.
