Chamber Requesting Federal Budget Input

In a continuing effort to better serve the business community the Greater Oshawa Chamber of Commerce is soliciting your input into the upcoming Federal Budget. The Budget is due to be presented to parliament January 27.  It is the Chamber’s understanding that all submissions must be received no later than January 7th giving business a short time frame to comment.

Challenges could make GM stronger: auto analyst

General Motors faces a decade of unparalleled opportunity and could emerge from the challenges plaguing North American automakers stronger than ever, a leading automotive industry analyst believes.

“A strong case can be made that the auto sector in North America is entering its biggest decade of opportunity since perhaps when the boomer became of driving age,” Dennis DesRosiers told business leaders from across Durham Region at a breakfast hosted by the Greater Oshawa Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Durham Economic Prosperity Conference Committee.

Skills Training Centre Expansion Underway

Durham College is poised to help meet the growing demand for workers in the green energy sector with the expansion of its Skills Training Centre. Once complete, the centre will offer new programs in energy conservation, energy audits and renewable energy.

New Government Must Get Back To Work And Put Economy First

The Canadian Chamber of Commerce Canada’s largest business group is urging the Government to recall Parliament as soon as possible and present to the nation an Economic and Fiscal Update. “The well-being of every Canadian citizen depends on how quickly the new government addresses the current global economic turmoil”, says Perrin Beatty, President and CEO of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce. “Early action is essential, and many critical initiatives can be started immediately at little or no cost to the Government.”
