The City of Oshawa and Oshawa PUC Networks Inc. invite you to kick-off the holiday season by joining the Christmas Tree Lighting event on Friday, Nov. 22 from 6:45 pm to 8:15 pm in Memorial Park located in downtown Oshawa (Simcoe Street South / Centre Street South, between Metcalfe and John Streets). The City’s annual festive event includes free hot chocolate, lighting of the City’s Christmas tree and a visit from Santa and his reindeer. The Oshawa Civic Band, Nuance Vocal Ensemble & The O’Neill Chamber Choir will perform traditional holiday carols and Dan the Music Man will provide live family entertainment. On display will be a St. George’s Memorial Church candy house made by local artist Janice McHaffie. The event will end with the sound of church bells ringing from St. George’s Memorial Church.
The City encourages participants to be environmentally conscious by bringing their own hot chocolate mug. Event participants are also asked to bring a non-perishable food item for the Oshawa Community Church’s food drive and an unwrapped toy donation for the Owasc Audi Toy Drive.
Oshawa’s Christmas Tree Lighting event is made possible through its presenting sponsor, Oshawa PUC Networks Inc. For more information about the event, visit www.oshawa.ca/events.
Following the event, guests can then visit the McLaughlin branch of the Oshawa Public Libraries for an After Party (7:30 pm – 9:00 pm) featuring holiday jazz performed by the Bruce Gorrie Trio and children’s holiday games.
