CANADIAN AUTOMOTIVE MUSEUM

In 1961, a group of Oshawa businessman decided to create the Canadian Automotive Museum to preserve the automotive history of Canada. Currently on display are approximately 65 vehicles dating from 1898 to 1981. Bicycles, motorcycles, gas pumps and other memorabilia related to the period of various vehicles are used throughout the building.
Hours of Operation:
April to September: Mon - Fri 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sat & Sun 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
October to March, the museum is open by appointment only.

THE OSHAWA MILITARY AND INDUSTRIAL MUSEUM

This museum displays wartime uniforms from around the world; guns, medals and photographs of soldiers in the Ontario Regiment; and several restored vehicles, including an ambulance, jeeps and tanks.  Currently house the Largest Collection of running and Otherwise Operational Military equipment in Canada.

Tours can be arranged and are always welcome.

PARKWOOD ESTATE & GARDENS

Prior home of R.S. McLaughlin, a pioneer in the automotive industry. Now a National Historic Site, Parkwood comprises a 55 room mansion filled with original furnishings and artwork, and a 12 acre landscape of garden spaces from the serene to the spectacular. Parkwood is a rare surviving example of a grand estate of the "inter-war" years. Guided one hour mansion tours are available year round, as well as the Garden Teahouse restaurant or Greenhouse Tearoom (according to season).

ROBERT McLAUGHLIN GALLERY

The gallery presents changing exhibits of the works of contemporary Canadian artists. The Robert McLaughlin Gallery's expanded building opened in 1987. It has the largest collection of Painters Eleven, the first abstract painting group in Ontario (1953-60). The permanent collection includes works from the Victorian era, the Group of Seven, the Canadian Group of Painters and the Automatistes.  There is also an art reference library. Food is available.

Oshawa's oldest community theatre has offered a season of plays for 50 years. It opened its own 362-seat theatre in Oshawa in 1983. Step Back Into History. Many who shop, bank or dine downtown are familiar with the beautiful wall murals painted by talented Canadian artists which have transformed blank walls into scenes depicting Oshawa's history and multicultural diversity.

WAR MEMORIAL
Near the junction of John and Simcoe St.'s., is a monument dedicated to Canadians who served in World War I. It was built using stones from the battle fields where Canadians served and from the countries of all the World War I Allies.

McLAUGHLIN BAY WILDLIFE RESERVE

A natural area adjacent to Lake Ontario between the Second Marsh Wildlife Area and Darlington Provincial Park/McLaughlin Bay. Once a forested woodland, the area will be returned to its original state through a long-term reforestation program. Walking trails and picnic area. Located at the east end of Colonel Sam Drive.
