Program to Aid Small and Medium Sized Manufacturers |

Thanks to funding provided by the Government of Ontario, Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters (CME) has created the SMART Program to help small and medium-sized manufacturers in Ontario improve their productivity so they can compete more effectively in the global economy.
CME is looking for companies ready to start productivity-improving projects such as lean design and lean manufacturing, quality improvement, energy efficiency, IT best practices, and environmental impact reduction. SMART Funding will support the best projects proposed to us, with 50% funding up to $50,000, paid directly to hundreds of manufacturers.

Professional Advisory Group Launched |

The Greater Oshawa Chamber of Commerce, along with five professionals spearheaded the launch of the Durham Professional Advisory Group. The introductory meeting was held on Thursday, September, 11th at the Ontario Regiment Officers’ Mess, with over 26 Durham Region professionals involved in various aspects of wealth management and professional services attending. “initial feedback was excellent,” stated Geoff Michie, RBC Dominion Securities, one of the organizers “and now it is time to start with the format of monthly presentations that ware of interest to the group.”

In this federal election an important question needs to be asked of the candidates: “If elected, what will you do to bring fairness to Ontario?” Ontario currently holds 34% of the seats in Parliament (even though we have 39% of the population) and yet, for decades and over successive governments, no matter what their party affiliation, Ottawa has failed to treat Ontario fairly when it comes to federal transfers for such vital services as healthcare, infrastructure, unemployment insurance, education and immigration.
